Spotlight: LG WashTower WKE100HWA — A Full-Size Washer and Dryer in a 27" Footprint, Open-Box for $1,899

If your laundry room is a closet, a hallway nook, or a corner of the basement, you already know the compromise: go small and do more loads, or give up the floor space. LG's WashTower WKE100HWA is the appliance that stopped forcing that choice — and right now we have it open-box at Oxbury for $1,899, with 3 units in stock.

What makes a WashTower different from a stacked pair

A traditional stacked laundry setup is two separate machines held together with a stacking kit, each with its own control panel — one at knee height, one above your head. The WashTower is engineered as a single unit from the start. Both machines share one Centre Control panel sitting right in the middle at eye level, so you're not reaching over your head to start a dry cycle or crouching to set a wash.

It also means the two halves talk to each other. The dryer reads what the washer just did and pre-sets the matching dry cycle, so a heavy towel load doesn't get the same 30-minute tumble as a delicates load.

Key specs at a glance

  • Inverter Direct Drive motor with True Balance™ anti-vibration — quiet enough to run near a bedroom
  • Allergiene™ cycle for bedding and anything that sets off allergies
  • Wi-Fi enabled — remote start, cycle monitoring, and Tub Clean Coach reminders
  • Flow Sense™ duct clogging indicator — tells you when your dryer vent needs attention
  • ENERGY STAR® qualified and CSA listed
  • Dimensions: 27" W x 74 3/8" H x 30 3/8" D (carton: 30 1/16" x 79 11/32" x 32")

That 5.2 cu. ft. washer drum is genuinely full-size — comfortably a king comforter or a week of laundry for a family of four — in a cabinet only 27 inches wide.

Who it's for

Condo owners and townhouse buyers working with a laundry closet. Anyone finishing a basement who'd rather not lose a wall to a side-by-side pair. Households tired of the noise and shaking that comes from an older top-loader on a wooden floor. And anyone who has ever wrestled with a stacking kit and decided never again.

One thing to check before you order: measure the height. At just over 74 inches tall, the WashTower needs real vertical clearance — take a look at any low ceiling, shelf, or bulkhead above your intended spot, plus the doorway and stair route it has to travel.

The savings

A WashTower is a premium purchase at big-box retailers, and the WKE100HWA typically lands somewhere in the high $2,000s CAD before tax when bought brand new off the floor. Our open-box price of $1,899 puts roughly $800 back in your pocket on the same machine, same model number, same features.

Open-box at Oxbury means the unit came to us with cosmetic imperfections — a scuff, a small dent, packaging that was opened — not functional ones. Every unit is inspected before it goes on the floor. The cosmetic marks are usually on a side panel that ends up against a wall, and once it's installed you'll never think about it again. Brand new in box is available at $2,199, and factory refurbished at $1,490.40 when stock allows, if you'd like to compare the three grades.
